We took it easy today. It's been a busy few weeks, and there's a limit and yesterday we bumped up against it.
Our youngest had a little homesickness meltdown and needed consolation. I've got a touch of Traveller's Tummy, which is to be expected after all. And we needed a day to begin to make any headway with the website for the German rail system.
But tomorrow, Regensburg!
Last night I was more than bone tired, yet I could not sleep. Why, you ask?
Because as far as I can tell the Germans have never heard of decaf, but they make really good coffee. I went into a coffee store today and said, Haben sie kaffe mit nicht, um, caffeine? They looked at me as if I had asked for a meal without sausage.
So I laid there vibrating like a plucked string for a long while before falling into a restless dream-filled sleep. Dreamt that I was trying to find my family in the new Guthrie theater but it was just too huge.
Today we let everyone sleep in until they woke up on their own. Then after a breakfast of eggs (and sausages) we went to town in search of various necessities. Didn't find any of them. The camera that my daughter was going to buy turned out not to be 89 Euros, it was 149 Euros and the sign on top of the box in the window was advertising the extras 'worth 89 Euros.'
We bought ice cream again, visited the Bahnhof to figure out the train schedule, and went home to a dinner the my spouse whipped together from leftover spaghetti, sauteed mushrooms... and sauages. It was actually quite good.
Sent off an e-mail to a fellow we might visit in Prague, and now... to sleep! I totally avoided coffee today, so hopefully it should be more restful, and won't involve searching the Guthrie with a basket full of dirty laundry. I didn't mention the laundry before. Aren't you glad?

Bob, Having a heck of a time finding any info from you guys on the web. VERY confusing for this grey head! Aunt Kathryn ended up in the hospital again. Heart related. She's having a pacemaker put in today (Aug. 9). Hopefully this will help her terrible fatigue. From what I gather so far, you can't sleep because of the coffee; Dante is homesick (never really read the whole thing); you are trying to figure out the trains; and you are failing German!! Grandpa Mangen could have helped you out...he knew all the IMPORTANT words! Continue your adventure - miss you and love you all. Mom
